Labradoodles - Breed Recognition

Labradoodles are a new breed that has a long way to go to establish itself among other breeds. The Labradoodle Association of Australia is a parent club for the breed. The association is currently seeking full ANKC recognition. Association members are also encouraged to improve the breed's health by the means of responsible breeding. This organization develops breeder guidelines to help breeders deal with this new breed.

The Labradoodle is susceptible to such diseases as PRA, HD, and bone disorders. Some of the diseases are hereditary, which means breeders have to screen the parent dogs prior to breeding. Though the Labradoodle is a new breed, it has aroused much interest. The dog is recommended for people who suffer from allergy, yet want to have a devoted companion. The Labradoodle is the right breed for them. The popularity of the breed is growing. Hence, potential buyers may want to be listed on a waiting list. Puppies are not always available.

Some breeders prefer to import the dogs from Australia. Many kennels claim that their litters are the only ones in the United States. However, potential buyers have to contact many breeders and make sure that the Labradoodles they offer are of high quality.
